OriginalNotes: genealogy.com Indiana page: (posted by Randall Wharton, 1999):
I am looking for photos by John Wharton, Barton Wharton and the Co. name Crest. They were photographers in Indiana and our my family. They were in business in the late 1800's and early 1900's mostly in Wabash, Winimac and I beleive Logansport. Any info would be appreciated. E-mail me!

Pulaski County Democrat 30 Sep 1909
The death of John Wharton occurred last Friday afternoon. He had been in poor health from Bright's disease for some months, but few knew of his serious condition until a comparatively short time before the end came. His age was 76 ears, 4 months and 7 days. He was born in Miami county, Ohio, but lived most of his life in Indiana. In his younger days he was a school teacher, having taught a couple of terms in this county in the 50's. He was married to Anna Stone at Wabash in 1865, and to that union came seven children, six of whom are living--sons Otto and Barton and daughters Mrs. Grace Rowles, Mrs. Maud Baughman and Misses Marie and Emma. The family removed here in 1889, since which time Mrs. Wharton has been identified with the photograph business. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, in charge of the Masonic fraternity, the deceased having long been a member of the Wabash lodge. Brief services at the home were followed by interment on the hill.

Note: Wharton, Conover & Timothy Faries may be connected or related. An album on ebay (May 2006) included photographs of the Wharton & Faries families (Middletown, OH, Aurora, IN and other places). Faries mother's maiden name was Conover. Conover & Wharton were partners. Both Conover & Faries worked in Greensburg.
