OriginalNotes: FRANKFORT: A PICTORIAL HISTORY, p. 60
Luther V. Heichert apprenticed with his bro. Oscar in 1871. Oscas had an established photography business in Frankfort. In 1878 they became a partnership known as Heichert Bros. which was located in the Cohee block on the SE cor. of Main and Clinton. Two yrs. later Oscar retired and left Luther the sole proprietor.
p. 24 photograph of a small, white frame building identified as the photo gallery of H. Oscar Heichert, the town's leading photographer. (ca. 1865) Several photographs taken by the Heicherts illustrate the book.
p. 63 photo caption: "The large brick res. . . . is most likely the home of Oscar Heichert which was located at the crossing of Walnut and Columbia. When this home was torn down, correspondence was found in one of the walls addressed to a co. in New York in 1871. Mr. Heichert had requested information and prices concerning a new portable camera and "view lens."

the photography business was owned & run by Luther Von Heichert (1853-1902), who was born near New Castle, IN. Luther's wife was Margaret Peninah Morrison (1855-1895), a sister of my grandfather James William Morrison (1853-1925). They had 1 child, Clara Heichert, who married Charles Silverthorn. In my database I do have a brother of Luther named Oscar - from your data, he must have been in business with Luther, perhaps on the artistic side. Their father was a John Heichert, married to Roberta Clunk, both of PA. I have some undigested Heichert/Silverthorn material that may yield more info when analyzed. Heichert photos are well known in Clinton Co. -- see Helen Grove's book on Frankfort.
