Until 1851 remained on farm, 6 mi. NW of Winchester, came to town that yr. and became partner of Lewis Walker in cabinet business, later associated with John W. Diggs. 1863-66 was photographer. 1866 on was a merchant and operated hardware. [lists partners] He was a Whig, Abolitionist.
