Mr. Benham takes pleasure in announding to the citizens of Fort Wayne and vicinity that his NEW ROOMS are now opened, and he will be happy to see all who may wish anything in the way of Likenesses taken in the Best Style of the Art. The decided favor with which my Pictures have been received, and the liberal patronage bestowed has induced me to open these rooms for the accommodation of my patrons, and furnish them in a style and elegance surpassed by one in the country. Being now well pepared for conducting the Art in all its varieties, and for producing work unsurpassed in quality, and at VERY LOW RATES, I hope to merit and receive a continuation of the patronage heretofore awarded me. These Rooms are situated at the south-east corner of Columbia at Calhoun streets-having two entrances: on Columbia street, over e. Stapleford's store, nearly opposite J. W. Townley, and on Calhoun, over the City Auction Room. TO AMBROTYPISTS. Mr. B. keeps a general supply of Stock, Cameras, Chemicals, and Apparatus generally, and sells at eastern prices (3w1) Fort Wayne Sentinel, 11 July 1857, p. 2: Mr. Benham has removed his Daguerreotype gallery to the corner of Calhoun and Columbia Streets, over Stapleford's Store and Auction Room--entrance on both streets. He has now got beautiful rooms, neatly fitted up and with the additional advantage of a skylight, so that he can take pictures in any sort of weather, in the briefest possible time. He is now taking pictures by a newly invented process called Sphereotypes, which is a decided improvement over the old method. These pictures stand out in bold relief from the background and look as prominent and rounded as busts. Any person wishing handsome and truly life life portraits of either self or friends can assuredly get them at Benham's. [NOTE: The Sphereotype was patented by Albert Bisbee in conjunction with Yearless Day (a former Fort Wayne daguerreotypist) in 1856 (US patent #14,946). Fort Wayne Sentinel, 19 Sept. 1857, p. 3 High Handed Outrage! $10 Reward! The undersigned will pay the above reward for such informaiton as will lead to the conviction of the peson who threw a stone into the front window of Mr. Benham's New Ambrotype Gallery, corner of Columbia and Calhoun streets, breaking glass and doing other damages. B H Benham. A CARD - Mr. Benham regrest exceedingly that any one should be so evil disposed as to do the above act, as he is entirely unconscious of giving any one cause for doing so unkind a deed. That he is making Pictures entirely superior to any to be obtained elsewhere and at much lower rates, he does not deny, he supposes that he can afford to make a good AMBROTYPE FOR TWENTY-FIVE CENTS, he has an undoubted right to do so. He would prefer other arguments that the throwing of stones and the breaking of windows to convince him that he has not already the above right.
