Frank M. Pickering describes selling photo materials in Terre Haute in the latter part of the seventies: "Having a little leisure time, went skirmishing around for new game. Going up a cross street I noticed a studio, a new one to me, George G. Holloway, proprietor. I called in. I found quite a young man and after he learned who I was he was full of questions, all of which I answered to the best of my ability. I there and then considered him a young man of more than ordinary ability, chuck full of energy and a determination to succeed." A few years Holloway later joined co-partnership with D. H. Wright.

We thoroughly appreciate your kindness in offering to settle with us for a discount, but think it would be unjust to you to take advantage of your generous offer. We have received full value (and more) for our money, consequently, we cheerfully forward the amount in full. We have recently gone through a fire, and have been busily getting in shape again. We are most happy to state that we are better fixed than ever to do fine work, and think the fire was a good thing for us. It made us "fix up" a little. Success to the St. L. & C. P.
