History of Randolph Co., Indiana, Illustrated, 1882 (E. Tucker), p. 316: Enos R. Hiatt, b. near Farmland; his father Eli removed with family to Missouri where he d. 1869, wife remaining there until 1873 when she returned with family to Randolph Co. within 4 mi. of Farmland. Enos rented portion of grandfather's farm, which he farmed 1875-76, and in 1877 came to Winchester where he was sign painter and similar employment until winter of 1879 when he learned photography from Charles.

Main St., has been occupied for similar purposes for nearly15 yrs. and under present management since 1880...strong, clear sky and side lights with north exposure...reception rooms, are 20x30 feet and the operating rooms and apartments, devoted to the mechanical, chemical, printing, and finishing department, are 20x40 feet. Hiatt makes a specialty of fine work in card, cabinet, panel and life size and also of copying and enlarging in a variety of styles of finish, including India ink, crayon, oil and pastille.
