During Forrest’s [Kiser] absence [when he served in WWI], he was fortunate to know Ammon Beasley, who was an experienced photographer that had a photography business in Remington for many years. Beasley, at age 69, offered to run the Kiser Studio in Forrest’s absence. Forrest left Monticello in late August 1918 and reported for duty in New York in the development of aerial aviation film. A footnote on Ammon Beasley: He started studios in Reynolds, Rensselaer, Gary and Michigan City over his lifetime. In January 1919, Beasley, former proprietor of the Stilwell gallery in Reynolds, was put in charge of the Kiser Studio; later Beasley purchased a studio in Rensselaer.
