Friedgen bought Snyder out in June, 1873, at which time Friedgen and Donner was formed. The business concern was situated in the Donner Block, opposite the McEwen Block (nw corner, Third and Franklin). The Donner Block was directly east of today’s Crump Theatre. In March, 1889, John Crump bought the Donner property which adjoined Keith’s Arcade, the building John Crump bought at auction in January, 1889, as Keith had been taken to the insane asylum and all of his property holdings had been put up for auction in order to pay a $28,000 debt to Francis T. Crump. On acquiring the Donner property, John Crump had the old Donner buildings razed. The Donner was Fred Donner, jeweler and father of William Donner." The oldest and largest gallery is that located in Donner's Block, and run by two as skillful artists as any city can boast of, viz.: Messrs. Friedgen & Donner. The operating room has one of the best sky lights in the State, the light being modeulated to any degree by the means of a series of screens arranged after a plan of Mr. Friedgen's own.
