"It is published at $2,50 per annum, and all who want to keep the run of the woman movement can do so by calling on Mrs. Throop at Hill's Gallery, or by addressing The Woman's Journal, Boston, Mass." Greencastle Banner (Greencastle, Indiana), February 22, 1877, p. 3 During his visit at Bloomington J. A. Hill took a number of orders for large pictures. The portraits of well-known citizens which he went down to deliver, gave such satisfaction that one of the oldest merchants of the place took an agency, and will hereafter take orders at that point. Mrs. Throop is an artist, and no mistake, and those who want large, first class, permanent pictures should avail themselves of her skill. Mr. Hill does the photographing, while she finishes them in India ink, or water colors, as may be desired. Greencastle Banner (Greencastle, Indiana), April 26, 1877, p. 3 Mrs. Throop, the artist, received nine orders for portraitys while at Bloomfield. Greencastle Banner (Greencastle, Indiana), March 12, 1878, p. 4 Ad: Hill's Art Gallery, for more than twenty years a resident photographer of Greencastle, is now making the copying and enlarging of small pictures, as also the taking from life, and coloring in India Ink Water Colors, Pastel, etc. a specialty. We are prepared to execute work of this kind of all sizes and styles of finish. The coloring being done by Mrs. Josephine Throop, a first-class artist who does nothing else. Art Studio in Brown's New Block, West Side Square, over New York Store. Respectfully, J. A. Hill. 51-1y.
