Pierson & Co. have disposed of their Picture Gallery to a gentleman from the southern part of the State, by the name of Sims, and wish those indebted to them to come up and make immediate settlement. "Fine Art Circular / Office of J. D. Sims Photographic Art Gallery." Long column about visiting gallery and being photographed. Bright day is not necessary. Avoid baby's sleeping time. Light best on a clear morning. Avoid late in the day. Never come in a hurry. Describes what to wear. For ladies something that will drape or fold nicely. Materials will too much gloss are objectionable. Lavender, lilac, sky blue, blue purple and French blue are worse, photographically, that pure white. China pink, rose pink, magenta crimson, pea green, buff, plum color, dark purple, pure yellow, navy blue, fawn color, Quaker color, and stone color, show a very light grey. Scarlet, claret, garnet, sea green, light orange, heather color, light Bismarck, and slate color take still darker, and are excellent colors. Cherry, wine color, light apple green, dark orange, golden and red brown take dark, but not black. Men: the hair should never to very wet o glossy. "White sitting for your picture, forget all dolefulness. Think of some pleasant thing that will impress a pleasant look upon your face, and finally, let your photographer pose and arrange."
