The Republic (Columbus, Indiana), 25 Apr. 1898, p. 2 - Photographer Hunton Dead - F. N. Hunton, a photographer of Greencastle, died yesterday after a long illness. The deceased had for years been located at French Lick and West Baden, and was well known to the traveling public and frequenters of those resorts. Mr. Hunton was formerly in business in Columbus. He was located in the room now occupied by F. Donner.

"Attempted Suicide." Long article about suicide attempt in Columbus, Indiana, via morphine, by Mrs. Nellie Hunton, who has been conspicuous figure about Greencastle for some time. She survived. Since the death of her husband last April, Mrs. Hunton has been the subject of much talk and severe criticism. Said to have neglected her children to the extent that the brother of her late husband came from Manchester, Conn. And took children to his home.

Hunton, of Evansville. He was at Milwaukee convention (in 1883) and saw electric light demonstration by Mr. Dixon, of Toronto, an on return had 4 lights of 2,000 candle-power each put into his studio.  Being new and novel he was rushed with work, making as high as 67 sittings in single night.  He asks for criticism,  and will answer questions at either of his galleries, 604 and 606 Main St., Evansville, and Main St., Henderson, KY.

The Evening Republican, 14 Oct. 1892, p. 4 - Something New. Photographing at Night by Electric Light. Quotes article from St. Louis Photographer about F. N. Hunton, of Evansville witnessing electric light demonstration by Mr. Dixon of Toronta, Canada and upon his return to Evansville had four lights of 2,000 candle power each put in his studio. The thing being new and novel, he was rushed with work, making as high as 67 sittings in a single night. "The above article shows that F. N. Hunton, artist at the Foster gallery, 429 Washington Street, is a veteran in the use of electric light at night for photographing. Mr. Hunton is the first photographer in Indiana who made a success of electricity in photography. Mr. Hunton is now using five lights of 2,000 candle power, which are furnished by the Commercial Electric Light company, and are now in operation at his gallery. F. N. Hunton, Opposite St. Denis Hotel." [perhaps the mention of Evansville was an error. The St. Denis Hotel was on the SW corner of Washington and 5th in Columbus]

His death was caused from blood poisoning resulting from a slight wound upon the hand. He lived in Jasper in 1887--8 and 9, and married a second wife here, leaving here in 1889 for French Lick. He was a fine artist.

OriginalSource: The Republic (Columbus, IN), 6 Dec. 1890, p. 4 - Photographers in Trouble, The Firm of Hunton & Redding Goes to Pieces--A Receiver Appointed. Some time ago a man named Hunton came to this city and leased a room on the first floor of the Foster block, and fitted up on an extensive plan a photograph gallery. It soon developed that this man had been putting in skylights at Vincennes, Princeton, Evansville and other points in the southern part of the state, and that the one at this place was likely to share the fate of those at the other places and become financially stranded. To avoid a financial crisis Hunton succeeded in securing a partnership with Wallace Redding, and the firm has since been known by the name of Hunton & Redding. The predicted financial crash came this morning in the appointment of E. I Huber as receiver for it on a suit brought by Robert Carter on foreclosure.
