OriginalNotes: Portrait and Biographic Record of Delaware and Randolph Counties, Indiana, 1894, by A. W. Bowen & Co., p. 838-839
Entry for Benjamin Franklin Bundy, farmer and stock raiser of Randolph County. Son of William H. Bundy and Leah Charles, born on the old homestead near Centerville, Wayne County on March 7, 1828, lived there until 16 years of age. Learned saddler's trade at Centerville, worked as journeyman for sometime in several of the leading cities of the west and south, including St. Louis; Mo, Springfield, Ill; Memphis, Tenn; and New Orleans. In 1850 opened a shop in Huntsville, Indiana, where he continued 8 years, about 1858 built a saw mill 3 miles SW of Winchester and began manufacture of lumber. He disposed of mill, but afterwards repurchased it and at this time is operating it very profitably. In 1877 he embarked in general mercantile trade in Winchester, previous to which date he had been associated in the same business with Robert Morrow, a firm that began operations about the year 1875. He continued the good business for 8 years, disposing of his interests in Winchester at the end of that time, and resuming agricultural pursuits, having previously purchased a valuable farm in sec. 6, White River Township. 320 acres. Twice married: Miss Minerva Irvin, daughter of Robert Irvin of Winchester, she died 3 years after. Second to Sarah J. Heaston of Winchester, who died October 27, 1890. He was for some time identified with the profession of dentistry in partnership with A. J. Ross, under whose instruction he made substantial progress in the practice; and he also operated a photograph gallery for a limited period in Winchester.
