Sergeant & Harris at the Mansion House, are taking excellent daguerreotype pictures of some of our citizens. That of friend Sibley, Junior of the Standard, is life-like to the letter. We are well acquainted with the work of the best daguerreotype operators at Cincinnati, profess to be a good judge of this kind of picture, and we freely yield the palm to the superior skill of the gentlemen. Modesty forbids us saying that a very accurate likeness of ourselves can there be seen among the fancy specimens. / The Daguerreotypists Guide is the name of a neatly printed pamphlet of 36 pages by M. Carpenter of Cincinnati presented to us by Mr. Harris, daguerreotypist at this city. No student of the art should be without this valuable work. It gives instructions in every department of the art, and with its assistance no man can fail with a good operating apparatus to make a finished daguerreoypist. [p. 3 Ad for Mansion House, J. A. Emrie, proprietor, on 2nd St. near steamboat landing] Aurora Independent Banner, (Aurora, Indiana), August 19, 1852, p. 2 Sargeant & Harris remain but a few days longer in town. Persons wishing their daguerreotypes taken in good style should call upon them immediately at Mansion House. They will furnish you a perfect picture in every particular or charge you nothing.
