Cos (Chicago, Goodspeed Bros., 1893) p. 156-57 Reared in Coldwater, MI, 1863 removed to Buffalo, NY where he was employed in the wholesale hardware business of Sidney Shepherd & Co (5 yrs) two subsequent yrs. with the Western Insurance Co., of Buffalo. At the end of this time the death of his father called him to Burr Oak, where he remained for some time studying music and the art of photography. In 1877 came to Elkhart where he bought photography gallery.
