Tri-County Banner (Knightstown, Indiana), February 1, 1946, p. 1 - Cpl. Robert L. Carroll was honorably discharged from the Army Air Forces on Jan. 26 at the Separation Center, Ft. MacArthur, Calif. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Carroll. After 37 months service, most of which was at Stout Field in Indianapolis, Cpl. Carroll was official Post Photographer at Ft. MacArthur at the time of his release from service. He had held this assignment since his transfer there from Stout Field in August of last year. He will return to Indianapolis where he will be employed as a staff photographer for the Indianapolis News.

Indianapolis News, Feb. 13, 1946, p. 17 - Photo. And Now He's Back! Robert Carroll, a staff photographer at the News, was inducted into the Army at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Dec. 22, 1942. First assigned to Camp Roberts, California, for basic training but transferred to 1st troop carrier command, then stationed at Stout field.

"Photographers Invited to Meet" Amateurs invited to attend meeting in Knightstown Public Library. Purpose to organize a camera club in which those people interested in photography as a hobby may actively participate and share their mutual interests and experiences. Members from Henry, Rush, and Hancock counties. Temporary chairman of the meeting will be Robert L. Carroll, a member of the advertising and sales promotion department of the Forse Equipment Corporation in Anderson. A professional photographer for several years, Carroll has also instructed photographic classes at the YMCA and Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis; IU; and during WWII was a photographic instructor in the Air Force.

Robert L. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Carroll of Knightstown has jointed staff of Greenfield Daily Reporter as reporter-photographer. He graduated from Knightwtown High School and attended IU where he majored in advertising and press photography. He is editor of "Mid-West Hot Rodder," a monthly publication, and will continue with this publication along with his reporter duties.

The Daily Reporter (Greenfield, Indiana), December 13, 1963, p. 1 - A Knightstown man who also has lived in Greenfield was indicted on charges of sending obscene mail by a federal grand jury in Indianapolis Thursday. The indictment against Robert L. Carroll, 41, was among 31 returned by the grand jury. Carroll has worked as a photographer and newspaper reporter.

While returning by plane from Dayton, Ohio last Tursday afternoon where he had gone in the morning on official business, Pvt. Robert L. Carroll had his camera with him and took several aerial pictures of Knightstown as the plane flew over the city. This was Pvt. Carroll's first experience in an Army plane and also his first attempt at making aerial photographs.
