An ex-Oklahoma congressman visiting the prison was also killed and three others were shot and wounded. No one seemed to know exactly how but each of the three prisoners had obtained a revolver. As they ran towards the front gate they shot everyone they saw and begged other inmates to join them. Miraculously no other inmates did. As they reached the front gate and fled outside guards opened fire on the escapees killing all three. Drover] began "picture taking." George Houser, now a prominent photographer of Warsaw, at that time ran a picture gallery in the room over Whitelock's grocery. Drover, without experience in that line, bought the outfit and started an art studio for himself. He was a genius in art and by studying and learning as he worked he gradually advanced until he became one of the best photographers in the city. The studio remained in this location 3 1/2 years, when it was moved into the Midway block. He had been in present location over 3 years and has had excellent patronage. Leaving because wife was raised in a western state and cannot become accustomed to Indiana climate. He will leave for a prospecting trip into Oklahoma, Kansas, and Indian Territory. Huntington will still have 3 experienced photographers [profiled in article]. Daily News-Democrat (Huntington, Indiana), Oct. 15, 1901, p. 3 - H. H. Drover, the photographer, having recently given up his gallery in the Whitelock building, finds that his present quarters at the ground floor studio in the Midway block are too small. He is arranging to build a 10x14 foot addition over the river which he will use as a printing room. It will be especially designed for such work. His place will then be complete, all departments being modeled for the work to be done in them. He will probably add a line of picture moulding to his stock in a few weeks. Daily News-Democrat (Huntington, Indiana), Jan. 10, 1902, p. 1 - F. V. Copenolle, of Youngstown, Ohio, has rented the gallery over Whitelock's store where H. H. Drover was located and where Charles A. Clark was more recently engaged in business.
