Thomas A. Crose was a photographer of Lake County scenes who typically hand marked his photographs and postcards as Crose, Crose Photo Co., or Photo by Crose. Some of the highest quality photographs of the industrial development of northern Lake County were taken by Crose. Crose was also one of the few photographers in Northwest Indiana that produced panoramic photographs. Crose also published photographs and postcards of Porter County locations, especially of the Kankakee River and Hebron areas. Thomas A. Crose was born October 5, 1865, in or near Brookston, White County, Indiana, the son of Solomon and Tacy Jane (Smith) Crose. Thomas married Elizabeth Jane Cunningham on April 16, 1889, in Carroll County, Indiana. Thomas passed away on February 17, 1931, in White County, Indiana.

Lake Superior Court: Thomas A. Crose and Eliza J. Crose seek to adopt Mildred Cecil Dufree, a 7-year-old femal infant. The application states that the mother died June 20 and the father left for parts unknown and deserted his child.

Obit for Mrs. Eliza Jane Crose, 75, who died at home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph L. Long of Laurel. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Cunningham, b. White County, Ind. On March 21, 1860. Married to T. A. Crose who preceded her in death at Pittsburg, Ind. On April 14, 1889. She resided in Montana for the last 22 years. Also survived by Mrs. Gaylord Pearsall of Billings, and son Harold G. Crose of Salt Lake City, 6 grandchildren, brothers and sisters.

Plans for Ogden Bldg. Completed. Plans for the new Ogden building, at the corner of Broadway and the Fifth avenue alley, have been completed by Architect Walter Hudson. Is being erected by F. M. Savage of Joliet, Ill., at cost of $25,000, and will be one of the most substantial buildings in the city. Will be 2 stories and used for stores and offices. There will also be a fine photographic gallery for the Crose Photo company, who plan to move into the building when it is completed. They will have beside their gallery, with a big slanting skylight, dark rooms and working rooms made especially for their use and many other conveniences.
