He then learned art of photography and 1878 located at Angola, m. 1880 Della Bowrie, native of Ligonier, 2 children Tressa (deceased) and Earl.

Hoff Gravesite, Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana


These are stones at Circle Hill Cemetery (Section 11, Lot 9) for the Hoff family, who lived in Angola at the end of the 19th century.  John Hoff was a photographer -- his logo, "J. B. Hoff", is sometimes seen on Angola photographs.
Della Hoff Waldron's maiden name was Bourie.  She was of the Noble County Bourie family.   She married John Waldron after John Hoff died.

Ahgenes posted on 6 Jan. 2004: John B. Hoff (1856-1906) was born in LaGrange, Indiana, and was a photographer in Angola from 1878 to probably the late 1890's, when he moved to Ohio. He had studios in Lorain in 1900, and in Delphos a little later.
AnnHoff, posted 8 Jan. 2004: I have not been able to locate John's records or photos. I don't even have a photo of him. You may be interested to know that John's brother, William L. Hoff (b. 1854, d. 1910-1920), was also a photographer. He had studios in Denison, Iowa, and elsewhere in Iowa. John's son, Charles (1887-1946), was a photographer for F. Schantz in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for some time, and before 1920 he opened Hoff's Studio there.
Ahgenes posted on 15 Feb. 2004: John's and William's parents were George Hoff (1826-1893) and Mary Berg (1832-1911).
