Anderson, June 4. James McKeowin, the oldest photographer in this city, committed suicide in his photograph gallery yesterday. He left a note addressed to his wife, saying that he had taken morphine with the hope that he might end his life, because he had become despondent on account of the sale of his old homestead. Mr. McKeowin was 57 years old.

1895 Anderson Sanborn Map: the photo gallery at 7 W. 12th St. is attached to the rear of a 1/2 story dwelling at 35 S. Meridian St. or 5 W. 7th St. By 1900, the dwelling was 1263 Meridian and the studio still standing.
