Early Morning Pierceton Fire Takes the Home of Mrs. John Logan on the Main Street [Note that the Main Street is First Street] / Combined Home-Art Studio --
Mrs. Logan in Warsaw Tuesday night with friends (the Elders, her relatives) -- Pierceton was visited Wednesday morning about 3 o'clock with a fire that licked up completely the home of Mrs. Margaret Logan, widow of the late John F. Logan, which was located a half block south of the business houses of the place. Presumed the cause of the fire was from an overheated stove, though little was known of the condition of the house, as the blaze was well under way when the fire fighters got on the ground. Little of the household belongings were saved. The home consisted of combined living apartments and an art studio. Mrs. Logan being a photographer of noted experience and an artist of rare accomplishments. She was a lover of art and had gathered many rare paintings which were upon the walls of her home, which makes the loss exceedingly heavy. It is estimated at from $2500 to 3000 with $1000. The residence was not large but was located in a thickly settled portion of the town with nearby residences on either side, which demanded the best endeavors of the fire department to save, with extreme cold morning. It was almost miraculous that but the one home was sacrificed.

Observation from Joan Hostetler, 16 May 2018
In scanning Pierceton photographs I have seen several portraits from about 1905 that are rectangular or oval cut-out prints mounted on gray mounts. She hand wrote "M. Logan" in pen and pencil beneath the photograph.
