OriginalSource: Photo dated June 1870 listing GINGHER & LEFFEL, successors to CAIN & BITLER, Peru, Ind.

Miami County Sentinel (Peru, Indiana), March 24, 1970, p. 3
Go to the New Gallery for cheap pictures. Opposite the Court House. Gingher & Leffel. / Gold is Down. So are Gems. Eight for fifty cents, at Gingher & Leffel's Gallery, opposite the Court House. / Gingher & Leffel have purchased the Gallery formerly owned by Cain & Bitters, and have fitted it new. They are making first class work and at the lowest prices. Give them a call.

Miami County Sentinel (Peru, Indiana), Oct. 14, 1869, p. 3
A Typo Gone - Our fellow citizen, T. M. Bitters, who for the last 8 or 9 years has been foreman in the Republican office, has severed his connection with that paper and bought out the interest of Mr. Tracy, in the photograph gallery of the late firm of Cain & Tracy. If industry, energy and uprightness will insure success, Mr. Bitters is bound to succeed. Though without experience in his new calling, yet he is a man of fine business capacity and whatever he does, is done thoroughly; and his fine tastes and mechanical acumen will soon be proficient at printing with the sunlight as with ink and types. We wish him every success. / Get your Gems and Photographs taken and Cain & Bitters' gallery -- where is the largest sky and side-light in the west. / No body doubts but T. C. Cain is one of the finest artists in the State, nor that T. M. Bitters treats his customers as kindly as any body. Call on Cain & Bitters. / Every body who gets their picture taken at Cain & Bitters' Mammoth Gallery, gets a beautiful present next Christmas, valued at from 5 cents to $25. / Cain & Bitters' Gallery of the Fine Arts, is fitted up at an expense of $4,000, and is among the finest in the State. Every one in town and country are invited to call and see it. / [Also on page is long column "Spiritual Photographs" describing a framed photo on display in Cain & Bitters gallery of a group of mostly Peru citizens. "In the back ground of the picture can be plainly seen the outlines of two figures which were not in the group when taken. One is a female, standing. Her head and face, her bust, and one bare arm, and some of the drapery of her dress, are, though dimly, outlined, yet plainly visible. The other is the head and face of a man, bearing the appearance of a corpse--the blance of the figure concealed behind the other figures in the group. The artist, nor any of the grtoup, can in any way, account for the appearance of these figures--but they are there."
