Frances Helen Burroughs Lupton 
(Page 193) 
Frances Helen (George3, Rebecca2, John1) was the second child of George W. and Delilah Burroughs. She was born January 3, 1854, at Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Ind. She was educated in the schools of Lafayette. Early in life she became a member of the First Baptist church in her native city. 

She was married October 18, 1876, to Othniel Lucre Lupton. Her husband was the eldest son of James Johnson and Martha Lane Lupton, and was born in Lafayette, June 10, 1849. He was a photographer by profession. 

Soon after their marriage they moved to Greenville, Bond County, Ill., where they remained four years. They then moved to Paducah, Ky., but remained there but a short time. They were for brief periods located in Champaign, Champaign County, Ill.; Lafayette, Ind.; Independence, Buchanan County, Iowa. In September, 1882, they located in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa, where they have since resided with the exception of two years -- 1896-7 -- spent at New London, Henry County, Iowa. Mr. Lupton died January 19, 1912.

Kenneth Burroughs, b. Nov. 29, 1894. 
To each of their children the name Burroughs was given as a middle name. 
Hallie was a bright, winsome girl of nine years, and Hyatt a lovely boy of four years, when diphtheria entered their happy home and in less than three weeks bore away these two treasures from the household.

JEH NOTE: Note that mother's maiden name was Lane, perhaps he was a nephew or relative of Lafayette photographer Gideon Lane. Gideon did have a sister named Martha.
