Mrs. Stouffer was a professional photographer from the 1930s to 1970. She was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Superior, Wis., to Charles and Julia Blocher Lee. She married Joseph Leonard Stouffer in Wabash June 5, 1935. He died Oct. 26, 1984. Survivors include a son, William P. Stouffer, Wabash; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Sweet, Wabash, Mrs. John (Bette) Brane, Markle, and Mrs. Dan (Jody) LaSalle, San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Arthur Lee, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother, Oscar Lee, preceded her in death. Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Stouffer Gallery, 64 W. Canal St., Wabash. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wabash Friends Church, 3563S Ind.-13, with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Friends Church. Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 86 E. Main St., Wabash, is in charge of arrangements. Bluffton News-Banner, May 5, 1999 Ruth Lee Stouffer, 83 Mother of Mrs. John (Bette) Brane of Markle, Ruth Lee Stouffer, 83, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday at her residence in Wabash. Mrs. Stouffer was a professional photographer from the 1930s to 1970, operating the Stouffer Studio on Pike Street in Wabash. She also was an accomplished porcelain painter and quilter. She was fascinated with electricity and, since World War II, it was said she had owned every appliance and gadget invented. She took an active part in farm management with her late husband, Joseph Leonard Stouffer, to whom she was married on June 5, 1935, and who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1984. Mrs. Stouffer was born Nov. 28, 1915 at Superior, Wis., to Charles and Julia Blocher Lee. She was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class in 1934 at Laketon High School. She was a member of the Friends Church at Wabash. Surviving, in addition to the daughter at Markle, are a son, William P. Stouffer of Wabash; two other daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Sweet of Wabash and Mrs. Dan (Jody) LaSalle of San Diego, Calif; a brother, Arthur Lee of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother, Oscar Lee, is deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Friends Church in Wabash with Bro. David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Wabash Friends Cemetery.
