"George Austin made us a pleasant call Monday. Mr. Austin has purchased a photographer's outfit in Knox, Indiana, and will remove there soon. Knox is a thriving village of about 1,500 inhabitants and the location seems to be a desirable one for the business. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Austin will wish them prosperity in their new venture."

"It seems that anonymous letters have been written to parties in this town; and as I have been accused of writing them, I take this occasion to say to whom all it may concern that I did not do it. I consider that sort of thing entirely too low and base to do anything of that kind. No one but a miserable coward would stoop to that. I am not afraid to say boldly what I have to say. I am not afraid to express my sentiments either regarding my accuser's actions in sneaking into my studio and stealing papers with which he seeks to prove me guilty. That and the anonymous letters are about on a par. Not content with insulting me in my place of business and refusing to go out when ordered, he and his brother sought to force a hand-to-hand fight, bracing up well with liquor to make the thing in keeping with the former proceeding. In conclusion, I wish most emphatically to say, I did not write anonymous letters to any person. But I think it would have been vastly better to have heeded the advice in the letters, and kept within the bounds of decency, instead of the course of action pursued. G. W. Austin."
