A Family Fight. "Manson Lanham, a tough of south Melberry street, took in his hands to whip his wife last evening for visiting her parents. Her father runs a Flying Dutchman on West street. Manson told his wife not to go about her father on account of him refusing to support him. He works for a day or two and then drinks up what money he earned." Article goes on to explain to describe the incident, stating that it was partially to do with Mrs. Lanham's gun that he borrowed and took to Frankfort, KY and disposed of. "Both parties are very tough characters and no telling who is to blame."

I have a "metal" photograph of my mother, she called it a "tintype"
which was taken of her in Switzerland Co. in 1897. It was taken by her
cousin's husband, Manson Lanham, a "riverboat man" who followed the
river and the fairs with a photo concession. He often took photographs
around Vevay and Moorefield. -Ardath Blue
