Wright) Princeton Clarion-Leader (Princeton, Indiana), June 18, 1885, p. 4 New Branch of Business - Miss Maria Blair has been devoting herself for several years to the study of crayon drawing, the last year having been spent in Cincinnati under able instructors, and the natural artistic ability she possessed has been brought out and developed until her productions at the present time are really excellent. She has made a specialty of point crayon work, and the specimens of her free hand drawing now on exhibition at Wright's photographic gallery will prove a great surprise even to some of her intimate friends. Mr. Wright who is an able critic in such matters, says the work of Miss Blair is as perfect as that produced by the best of city artists, and any one seeing the specimens of her work will know at a glance that they are works of superior merit without being able to judge of the intricate points of artistic ability. There are a great many people here who would like to have a large portrait of their family or friends, but the great expense heretofore attached to getting a really desirable portrait has kept them from securing them. Mr. Wright has secured the services of Miss Blair for the production of these enlarged portraits, and in each case the work turned out will be guaranteed as satisfactory. The work is durable, will not fade, and the prospects are that Miss Blair will have all she can possibly do in this line. The public is invited to call at Wright's gallery and see the specimens of her handiwork. 1887-88 Indiana State Gazetteer, p. 1331 (W. R. Mr. W. is a photographer of long experience, but the problem of natural gas for his town disturbed him to such an extent that he gave up his photo business & formed a co. of which he is president, to bore for gas. The venture has provided a grand success, as an abundance of natural gas has been struck. We congratulate our friend upon his good fortune. More light appears to be Mr. W's motto."
