OriginalSource: The Telegram, Harford City, Mar. 20, 1912, "Fifty-Six Ears [sic] of Wedded Life" Some time later [after he returned to Harford City in 1856] Mr. Covault purchased the lots where the Cronin drug store and W. E. Campbell hardwart [sic] store stand at the present time. On the site of the latter he erected a small frame building and opened a jewelry and clothing store. He put up a small shack in the street in front of this store which was used as a picture gallery during Civil war times. Men who were drafted into service and their families had their pictures taken without cost. The pictures were made on amber-type on tin and colored glass. There are today in the family albums of many residents some of these old pictures.

[Not sure that Covault was the photographer. The Blackford Co. Historical Society has several tintypes of Civil War soldiers in CDV-sized paper mats. Uniform style, size, and lighting indicate that they were taken by same studio. The subjects are identified.]
