Lozier D. Rice, 78, North Manchester, died at 2:15 a.m. today in the Wabash County hospital, following a nine-year illness. He was the father of Mrs. James Shultz, Rochester.
A lifelong resident of North Manchester, he was born April 7, 1890, at North Manchester, the son of Arthur and Clara Schoolcraft Rice. His marriage was Mar. 2, 1911, to Ruth Winesburg, who survives. Mr. Rice was a retired photographer and a member of the Zion Lutheran church. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Kreig, North Manchester; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. One son, Donald [Rice], and one sister preceded in death. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bender Funeral home in North Manchester. The Rev. Homer Ogle and Daniel Hamlin will officiate. Burial will be in the Oaklawn cemetery at North Manchester. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Wednesday.
