By Feb. 1878 DRJ was becoming restless again and Harry Fetter returned to take possession of his "old stand". Weaver, March and June 1991, p. 50-53: In about 187 or 1879 DRJ moved to Puget Sound area of Washington Territory and somewhere bought or had made a lfloating photographic gallery. It was small studio and darkroom plus living quarters built on a scow which was towed from port to port around the Sound. Once it reached its destination is was tied alongside a wharf or hauled onto land or the building itself could be removed from the scow and set up nearby. It was called "The Floating Sunbeam Gallery" or Judkins' Floating Photographic Gallery," but newspaper notices also referred to it as "The Cottage Gallery." It was reported at such places as Port Gamble, Utsalady, Snohomish City, Tulalip, Stanwood, LaConner and the SAn Juan Islands. A photo of rig appears in the article and the article states that several photographs of the gallery, taken over the years, show it in different configurations. "I suspect that it's size increased with the needs of the growing family." In March 1884 the floating gallery was advertised for sale. It's ultimate fate unknown. 1880s-90s worked in Seattle, building a home there.
