OriginalNotes: Indiana Herald (Huntington, Ind.), 1 Aug. 1883, Wed. p. 1 - Obituary
Almon Shepherd Kilby b. in Berkshire Co, Mass, April 26, 1819. Immigrated to Cuyahoga Co, OH at 13 yrs old. Married Esther P. Drapier of Euclid (now East Cleveland) Ohio on Oct. 16, 1841. 3 children: one died in infancy, one as young man, other Mrs. Wm. Lowry of Wabash. Early married yrs. Spent in Cuyahoga and adjoining counties, but to increase their prosperity they came to Indiana. After spending a few years at various places, working at his profession, which was that of photographer, he finally settled in Huntington, in about the year 1859, where he continued to reside until 1876, when for the benefit of his health he went to Michigan, where he spent a short time at various places, at last stopping for a while at Waterloo, Ind., but not receiving that benefit which he desired, and thinking it best for his financial interests, he at last settled in Wabash, Ind. From here he took a trip, with his family, to California, last fall, but returned in the early spring, and here he met with the "accident" which resulted in his death, in two weeks after its occurrence. Mentions his religious faith, 2 weeks of intense suffering.
