The Courier-Times (New Castle), Tuesday, January 4, 1977, Historic Henry County column, "Greensboro Businesses of 1860s Recalled," by Herbert L. Heller; information in article from earlier article by Clarence H. Smith in New Castle Courier published March 1926 using the 1860 census; More recently Dr. Kenneth Crider made a study of the population of Henry Twp. Using the same reference. "Rebecca Swain, wife of the drygoods merchant was listed as the milliner of the village." Mr. Wright with whom Mr. Smith had discussed the Greensboro merchants, also said that Mrs. Swain was the artist of the community and that she knew how to take attractive daguerrotypes, and that every one in that part of the county had had pictures taken by her.
