Marsh/Ryan Family Papers, 1881-1903 , 1966 (MSS 133) 2 boxes; .9 cu. ft. Consists of materials concerning the prominent Marsh and Ryan families of Muncie, Indiana, including correspondence, 1873-1890, family history, and Story of the Life and Character of Lida A. Ryan (1902). John Rollin Marsh was born in Muncie in 1863. In 1887, he became chief engineer at the Indiana Bridge Company. Marsh married Susan D. Ryan in 1889. She was the daughter of John W. and Lida (Jenkins) Ryan. John Ryan was a Muncie lawyer. The families were active socially and culturally in the community and had many prominent friends who were leading citizens of the time. Susan Marsh was a local artist.
