[see full ad] 1866 Indianapolis City Directory, p. 338, Washington A. Peaslee [Treadwell & Peasley], r. 16 1/2 E. Wash. Indianapolis Star, 11 May 1864, p. 3 - New Daguerrean Gallery - Messrs. Treadwell & Peaslee have just completed, at 16 1/2 East Washington street, the finest Photograph Gallery in the city. Mr. Peaslee is well known to our citizens as a accomplished artist. For sometime past he was connected with the firm of Morse & Peaslee, Gallery of the Cumberland, Nashville, Tennessee. The operating room of Messrs. Treadwell & Peaslee cannot be surpassed. It has a northern light, the best for the purpose and suffieiently strong to take pictures any time during the day, and even in cloudy weather. The sitting room is elegantly furnished and the walls are decorated with photographic views, taken by Mr. Peaslee, of some of the most interesting incidents and places connected with the history of the Armny of the Cumberland. The working apparatus of this establishment is the most complete of the kind in the West, and there is every convenience for the rapid execution of their work. Their printing machine, the invention of Mr. P., will do more work with one hand in half a day, than two persons can accomplish by the ordinary mode in one day. We judge by the specimens of the work exhibited to us that no better photographs can be taken anywhere than at this establishment. The pictures they take are perfect couterparts of the originals. We understand that Messrs. Treadwell & Peaslee sit apart Mondays for children, on which day they will have the preference over any other work. 1866 Edward's Indpls.
