Smith & Nissen, formerly of Michigan City, Ind., have leased the Tackett Studio at Coffeyville, Kansas Evening Star (Independence, Kansas), December 16, 1908, p. 3 "Smith & Nissen Hie Away," Article explaining that Smith & Nissen, who came to Coffeyville Kansas from Michigan City, Indiana left city without any notice. The firm occupied Tackett's photograph gallery using the fixtures under lease. They came here about 2 months ago and ran business under their names [Hy & ?]. They left a letter stating that they were taking early morning Katy train for the south, but John Tackett thinks that while they went south with the money they went north with their baggage. They owed Tackett $35 lease money, also collected money in advance for pictures and did not deliver the work. Left number of good sized printing bills unpaid. Claimed that Tackett would find out just what the cause for their leaving was, and that they would send checks back to pay their bills.
