George Burchnell, 80, formerly of Monroeville, died Friday at 11:55 pm in the West Berry St. Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the past three years. He was born in Monroeville and had operated a shoe repair shop there for many years before retiring because of ill health. There are no known survivors. [not sure if this is full obituary]

H. H. Burchnell and son, visited the town of Baldwin, Sunday. George is quite a genius in the art of photographing and as a piece of his masterly art in this line to be placed in his laboratory of relics to be viewed in his older days, he took and brought home with him a picture of the first oil well at Baldwin. This piece of artistic work can be seen at Burchnell & Sons grocery.

He intends to fit up a store and office room in the old building. George M. Burchnell is also remodeling in such a way as will give him more room and better light, his photograph and art gallery building on Railroad street.

Burchnell, the town's only photography got a ordinance in his town to license itinerant photographers. Text of ordinance explains that iteinerant photographers wanting to work within the town limits must secure a town license for $3.00 per day. Adoped February 19, 1912.

G. M. Burchnell wrote to this columnist on April 15, 1914 and asked him to critique advertising that he printed on his own little 5 x 7 Baltimore press and 150 pounds of type. Claudy was generally negative about the use of color, too many type faces, and the wording.

George M. Burchnell, 56 arrested at his home on Main Street by a US Marshal on a Federal Grand Jury indictment. He pleaded guilty to sending obscene negatives and prints to De Pere, Wisconsin in interstate shipment. Give a 30-day jail sentence and suspended for a year.
