Indiana Death Certificates, Albert Fearnaught, single, d. 3334 Central Ave, Indianapolis, Dec. 14, 1924; single, b. Jan. 20, 1852 in Cincinnati, OH to Ernst (Ernest?) and Dorothy Seele Fearnaught, both b. Germany; info from Chas. Fearnaught of same address
Information from Tom Davis at Crown Hill Cemetery, [email correspondence 2011]
Are you familiar with Albert Fearnaught? I know him primarily because of this: http://books.google.com/books?id=ZUcu4y … ht&f=false and the family monument at Crown Hill has a German verse on it (plus the name spelled the original German way and as well as the anglicized way) but I have also seen at least one portrait photo with his photography business name embossed on the bottom.
Albert Fearnaught lived from 1852 - 1924. His father was Ernest Fuerchtenicht, died January 22, 1880 Aged 63 years 2 mo. 18 days (but even yr, mo, day are actually in abbreviated German). His mother was Doretha Fuerchtenicht, September 16, 1825 - June 4, 1915.

"Albert Fearnaught and his signal from the grave," Indianapolis Star, January 5, 2015 [accessed January 25, 2015] http://www.indystar.com/story/news/history/retroindy/2015/01/05/retro-indy-albert-fearnaught/21296815/ Albert Fearnaught, an Indianapolis inventor, devised his own grave signal and applied for a patent with the United States Patent Office in July 4, 1882. His invention was essentially replaced the bell with a flag. It's not clear whether Mr. Fearnaught's invention saved anyone's life. Fearnaught died in 1924 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery - with a simple headstone minus the flag. His patent description details how his invention would work: "Should it prove that the supposed death was only a case of suspended animation, the buried person would, upon returning to consciousness, by a slight movement of the hand (whether Voluntary or involuntary) pull out both the Stoppers D and K, thus releasing the spring and 'throwing up the signal into the position shown by Figs. 2 and 4, and at the same time establishing a circuit through which cold air will freely circulate from the outside, thus ventilating the casket and permitting respiration until the grave can be opened."

Indianapolis Journal, 2 Sep 1890, Tue, p. 7: A party of professional and amateur photographers had a picnic on the canal, near Fairview Park, yesterday. During the day a trip was made to Broad Ripple in a steam yacht, where a number of landscape negatives were made. Among those in the party were Misses Lillian Potter, Laura Lowe, Minnie Lowe, Wilkins, Gross, Fisher and Wolf, E. B. Porter and wife, and Messrs. W. H. Potter, Frank M. Lacy, Albert Fearnaught, Bert Wilkins, and Lewis Replogle.

Indianapolis Journal, 10 Feb. 1904, p. 6: Albert Fearnaught listed as director of the stockholders of the Silver Mountain Oil and Mining Company.
