NEWSPAPERS: Indianapolis News, 22 Jul. 1962, sec. 2, p. 1, obit: Paul Shidler, died yesterday, 74 yrs old, lived at 155 White Oaks, Retired late in 1956 after 50 yrs service with The Indianapolis News, called the dean of Indiana news cameramen.  Covered Indy 500 from 1911 until retirement.  He started out at the News as an office boy hired by Hilton U. Brown.  Mentions "a few years later, when he was a photographer . . ."; golfing enthusiast, active in civic affairs. Mentions who he photographed, the equipment, etc. Widow Mrs. Mabel Wheeler Shideler, is former reporter for The News and the Indianapolis Times.
