Valentine (1994), v. 1 p. 380: Henry Webster Mendenhall b. 9 Mar. 1830, probably in Wayne Co., son of James Rich Mendenhall & Sarah Terrel Williams who m. 8 Nov. 1827 in Wayne Co. James R. was a doctor, he moved to Richmond in 1816 and was b. in Guilford Co., NC. [The family bible of James & Sarah is at Guilford College, Greensboro, NC] Henry m Mary Cornelia Reynolds [dau. of Samuel Reynolds and Hannah Grisell] on 2 Jan. 1874 in Wayne Co. He d. 14 Aug. 1891. [Several Gendex entries say that he m. Mary C. Reynolds on June 2, 1874 in Indianapolis]

Gendex: He first married Louise K. Whitridge, Oct. 8, 1856 in Richmond; they had one son Eddie W. who died in the 1860s, Louise d. June 30, 1863. Henry is buried in Earlham Cemetery
