"Peru's Veteran Photographer is Dead at 87." Charles Lincoln Lentz, 87, 67 West Main st, for 65 years a commercial photographer and a Peru resident all his life, died Monday in Dukes Memorial hospital. Had been ill a year. Never married. Survived by brother Anson of same address and sister, Mrs. Laura Bell, of Steele, ND. Preceded by 2 brothers. "He and his brother, Anson, founded the Lentz Bros. studio at 13 West Main street, which they operated until January 1, 1947. Then they sold it to Malcolm McCarter, who still operates it under the same name." Born in Peru on May 15, 1863, son of Lewis Lentz. Charter member of Peru lodge of Knights of Pythias.

Kokomo Tribune (Kokomo, Indiana), Saturday, September 25, 1954, p. 11
"Anson W. Lentz Dies." Age 63, 67 W. Main St., retired photographer, died Friday at Dukes Hospital. Had been confined to the hospital since August, 1951. "A commercial photographer, Mr. Lentz and his late brother, Charles, operated the Lentz Photography Studio here for 65 years. They retired from business in 1947." Born in Peru on April 6, 1861, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lentz.

Miami Co. Hist. Bulletin article says: "Another bro. Daniel, b. in 1860, also became a photographer and established his business in Guthrie, OK, where he and Charles earned fine reputations as photographers during the Oklahoma land runs in 1889." However, the article later states that Anson & Charles lived all their lives in Peru.

OTHER: See Miami Co. Historical Society HISTORY BULLETIN, vo. XIII, No. 12, December 1987. It states that the brothers sold their business to Malcolm McCarter for $10,000 on 6 Dec. 1946. Their sister donated many of their photos and other memorabilia to the Miami Co. Museum.
