Magley, [brother of William E.] 69, well-known Columbia City machine shop operator, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home, 345 North Main street at 2:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Although he had been in failing health for the past two weeks his condition was not regarded as critical. He was a native of Whitley county and was born on October 30, 1883, a son of Frederick and Elizabeth Summey [sic should be Sumney] Magley. After his marriage to Clara Brumbaugh, they started housekeeping near Round Lake where Mr. Magley operated a saw-mill and a threshing machine. In the year 1910, he moved to Columbia City, where he and his brother, William Magley, had purchased the old Lawrence Foundry. In the year 1919 his son, Kenneth Magley, purchased an interest in the business and it became known as the Magley Machine Shop. In 1947 Mr. Magley was forced to retire and the machine shop was then sold to the Vetco Corporation. Later he built a shop to the rear of his home on North Main street and he continued to operate it, as his health would permit, until his death.
