"William Watson and Wife Move to Washington State." Residents of Garrett for 27 years, leaving for Sunnyside, Yakima County, Washington to live with her brother because of her poor health. Watson is a Civil War veteran, served in 5th Ohio Cavalry. Born in New York City. In 1879 he and Mrs. Watson came to Garrett and he operated a photo gallery for 2 years over what is now the Stewart-Reyher store. Lower floor then occupied by J. H. Dibert drug store. "When C. Reyher bought the building in 1881 Mr. Watson was compelled to vacate his quarters and he moved to Churubusco. He stayed there until 1892 and, returning to Garrett, he was employed as a clerk in the B. & O. master mechanic's office for twelve and a half years." Then elected city clerk, and served 4 years. For 16 years was financial and corresponding sec. of Garrett lodge of Odd Fellows.
