He was working as a molder then bought studio mounted on wheels from wandering photographer, 2 years ago.  He found a stand for his wagon on a vacant lot just west of engine house No. 6 (W. Washington St.). Lot had been leased to a signboard co., but Kirkpatrick got the co. to rent him just enough ground for an entrance to his wagon from Washington St.  They gave him 6 ft.  Little wagon studio is almost hidden behind a signboard advertising a brand of beer. [very good description of business with foreigners, post-mortem photographs, etc. with 5 photographs]
