Find A Grave 95363910 - Floyd Edgar Quick, b. 2 Nov. 1877, Montgomery County, Indiana; d. 5 Feb. 1962, buried Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois

Indiana State Library, Quick Collection photographs were filed by subject (not kept together as a collection): Circus file, Portraits-Rufus Cantrell, Portraits-Quick, etc. The collection was evidently donated by "Mrs. Smalley, 2207 Glenada" no city listed; Pam [Wampler?] and Noraleen Young could not determine extent of collection or find inventory; a clipping in the collection says he had a studio on Mass. Ave., worked for Indianapolis Sentinel, retired in California, and had a home in Danville [probably IL]. A photo of him in later years is marked F. E. Quick, 2119 Glenada Ave., Montrose CA (1960)
HIS, Bass Collection Index Cards show that on 11-9-1910 images by Quick were copied. They are Bass neg. numbers 20609-20621, 20624-20687, 20560-20570.

From REAL PHOTO POSTCARD GUIDE: THE PEOPLE’S PHOTOGRAPHY by Robert Bogdan, Todd Weseloh, published by Syracuse University Press in 2006:
Quick, Floyd Edgar (1877-1962); was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, but grew up in Danville, Illinois. After high school he worked in a local photo shop. He took a mail-order photography course and went into business for himself. In 1909 he began traveling with carnivals and circuses as a photographer. He had his own photo post card booth where patrons could get their picture taken in front of studio backdrops. He also produced cards of performers and midway concessions. After being an itinerant for a few years he opened a commercial photography business in Detroit, where he worked for thirty years. Only a few of his photos are signed, and they are marked "F.E. QUICK." The studio portraits he did while an itinerant can be identified by the unique backdrops.
