Blanchard is still in town at his room over Sand's store, with a new supply of plates and cases, and will take Miniatures as good and as cheap as any in the west, Gilt and Morocco cases, lockets, breastpins, & c. Those wanting pictures would do well to call soon. Satisfaction given in all cases or no charges. Citizens of Greencastle and vicinity are respectfully invited to call and examine specimens. Aug. 21. Iowa City Republican, Feb. 22, 1854 (ad dated Feb. 1, 1854). On Feb. 1, 1854 Thomas Blanchard, Jr., advertised that he had outfitted a daguerreian studio over S. Krouse's clothing store in Hemsworth's New Building, Iowa City, Iowa. He offered portraits from one-sixteenth to half-plate size as well as images set in lockets and breast pins. Blanchard also sold daguerreian instruments and gave instructions in the art.
