Marshall County Independent, Plymouth, 5 Aug. 1898, p. 4, Mr. G. A. Webster, the photographer, has sold his photograph gallery to Miss Anna Dunn, of Laporte, who is already here acquainting herself with the situation. She will take possession August 15. Miss Dunn formerly lived here, was a teacher in the public schools of Marshall county for nine years and for a time clerked in the dry goods store of A. B. Coffy. Mrs. Bing Bower, residing north of the city is her sister. For the past nine years she has been employed in the photograph gallery of Mr. Bryant at Laporte. Mr. Webster has purchased the Heinina gallery at Valparaiso and will move his family there about Aug. 20. During Mr. Webster's stay here he has made many friends, and what is more has given his gallery a reputation that seldom comes to artists in cities no larger than Plymouth. His removal from our city will be deeply regretted by friends and patrons.

Plymouth Democrat, 4 Aug. 1898, G. A. Webster sold studio to Anna Dunn of La Porte, to take possession on 13th. Marshall County Independent, Plymouth, 5 Aug. 1898, p. 4, Mr. G. A. The Weekly Republican, Plymouth, 12 Feb. 1903, p. 7, Terrific Explosion, Miss Anna Dunn's Stove Blown in Pieces and Windows of the Room Broken. The occupants of Packard's block and people on the streets near the building were startled Thursday, by a report almost like a cannon in Miss Anna Dunn's picture gallery. Miss Dunn came down as usual and after lighting her fire threw into the stove some excelsior that had been used for packing goods which she received Wed. She fortunately went into an adjoining room after throwing this kindling in the stove for she had scarcely left the room when the stove was blown into a score of pieces, a window near it was blown out, two sky lights broken, and ashes scattered over the entire room. Some dynamnite powder or explosive of some kind must have been accidentally dropped into the excelsior as Miss Dunn had an ordinary wood stove. Fortunately the damage is not great. The Weekly Republican, Plymouth, 19 Feb. 1903, p. 7, Anna Dunn's studio is closed until March 16. OriginalWorkerType: PersonSexTypeID: 2 PersonColorTypeID: PersonStudioLocationID: 1810

Michigan St]. Miss Dunn has been interested in photography during the past 12 years, and has been located in Plymouth 4 years. Booster article mentions that she makes life-size portraits in India ink, crayon, pastelle or water colors; cabinet photographs; miniature pictures. The operating room is provided with a new north sky-light of ground glass. Voightlander's instruments, interior and exterior back-grounds, posing chairs, and other accessories are seen. On the walls of the receptio room and in show-cases are fine specimens of the work produced in this studio. [mentions generally life-size pictures and cabinet pictures, praising light, etc.] Miss Dunn's studies in children's pictures are happily portrayed. There seems to be no end to the different styles of posing and the varied expressions and attitudes are natural. Many novelties are seen in children's pictures. Miss Dunn's patience with the little ones is well known and appreciated, and she never fails to secure a good picture. Copying and enlarging old and faded pictures are also executed in a manner that gives them the appearance of an original photograph. The platino paper is used in the work, which gives the pictures better contrast, with soft effects, instead of a flat, dead appearance. The Plymouth Tribune, Oct. 31, 1907, p. 5 Call and see W. O. Machlan, the new photographer, before having your pictures taken elsewhere. W2 Having purchased the Anna Dunn Photograph gallery, I will be pleased to have old patrons as well as new ones call and inspect my work. W. O. Machlan, Photographer, 24w2 The Weekly Republican, Plymouth, 24 Aug. 1911, p. 4, Photograph Studio Changes Hands - The old Anna Dunn studio has recently been sold to Wm. N. Auer of Danville, Ill. The deal took place about two weeks ago, but possession was not taken until Sunday the 20. The new man, Mr. Auer, is a graduate of the Southern College of Photography, located at McMinnville, Tenn., which is a first class school in every way. Mr. Auer's home is at Danville, Ill. He will have some new fixtures and equipment for the gallery, maing it a first class studio in every way. OriginalWorkerType: PersonSexTypeID: 2 PersonColorTypeID: PersonStudioLocationID: 1809
