Fort Wayne Sentinel, Sept. 4, 1851: A. McDonald informs his friends and the public that he has returned from his visit to the East, with large stock of Plates, Frames, and other Daguerrean materials. He has also made himself acquainted with all the late discoveries and improvements in the Art, and is prepared to take Likenesses ... Daguerreian Room on Calhoun Street, one door South of Taylor's New Store, 3rd story. [Sept. 4, 1851]

A. McDonald returns his sincere thanks to the citizes of Fort Wayne and surrounding country for their liberal patronage heretofore bastowed upon him; and would respectfully invite their attention to a new style of pictures beautifully gotten up on Glass, and also on paper, which he is prepared to execute-equal to anything of the kind now in the United States. These Pictures are peculiarly  lifelike and true to nature. The Ambrotype being the latest improvement, far excells the Daguerreotypes with the accuracy of delineation. Also on p. 2: Gifts for the Holidays--There are few more appropriate gifts at this season than a faithful and well executed likeness of a dear and esteemed friend. Mr. McDonald, as will be seen by his advertisement, proposes to furnish likeness during the holidays, at reduced prices, and that he make good pictures is a fact too well known to require comment. No artist in the country can beat him in this respect. He now take the new style of pictures known as the Hallotype, which combine all the beauty and delicacy of the most finished oil painting, with the faithfulness and truth to nature of the photograph or ambrotype. Give him a call, and secure a good likeness at a small cost.
