B. Bailey has again returned to his old quarters as one of the proprietors. Gallery entirely refitted and refurnished, now one of most complete and beautiful establishments of kind in whole country. Under management of Bailey we predict that Metropolitan will be more popular than ever.

The Diary of Calvin Fletcher, v. VI, frontis and p. 279, 27 Dec. 1858: at 10 or 11 am met all the childin at Or's Dagarrotype offic and had our pictures taken. Bad cloudy day. Took 2 impressions a family groupe. The Degarotype taken by Baily & Spurgon. [see Diary, newspaper described the occasion]

Messrs. Bailey & Spurgin, photographers of Indianapolis, publish a neat little paper called the "Sunbeam," full of wit, poetry, short stories, and enticing hints about their business. We think the public will easily infer that the gentlemen who have the enterprise and taste to get up the bright little paper, understand photography as well.

Daily Atlas, Sept. 22, 1859, p. 3: Marion Co. Fair had on display photographs, daguerreotypes and other kinds of pictures in their line by Bailey & Spurgeon
Daily Atlas, Nov. 4, 1859, p. 3: long article about gallery of Baily & Spurgin's Metropolitan and Fine Art Gallery, 43 1/2 E. Wash. Examined their photographs, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes...2 rooms of gallery...plain or colored likenesses, Messrs. Baily & Spurgin are very successful in getting good photographs of groups, saw family of Mr. Fletcher. Images of prominent citizens including Hon. Sam Houston, Edward Everett, the late ex-Gov Wallace.

Daily Atlas, Nov. 8, 1859, p. 3: The firm of Baily [sic] & Spurgin, proprietors of the Metropolitan Photographic Gallery, has been dissolved. Wm. H. Weeks and A. J. Cox will hereafter conduct the above named establishment.
