"The information fits except for the middle initial. Rueben R. Houghton. Mildred Houghton his, ggranddaughter, grew up being told that Rueben R. Houghton was a photographer on the Ohio River. While attending college she met the grandmother of a friend who told her she knew this Rueben Houghton in Indiana and knew him to be a photographer who traveled by boat on the river. The known facts are that Rueben R. Houghton was born in Fayette Co. KY April 09, 1836. He was married ca 1858 probably in the Madison, Indiana area to Arnetta (Unknown). They had two sons both born in Indiana, one in 1859 the other in 1861. He is listed in the 1870 census in Ohio county Indiana, living in Randolph Twp, occupation photographer. In 1882 he was living in Felicity, Clermont Co., Ohio where he was a photographer and a confectioner according to the city directory. He died in Felicity, OH February 27, 1904 and is buried there. It is unknwon if he lived in Felcity between 1882 and 1904. There is a photograph existing of a young man that says R.R. Houghton photographer and on the back says Photo Palace No. 3. The photograph is undated. Because of what the front says we think this may be of R.R. Houghton."
