In the fall of 1859 Mr. C. opened a gallery in Cincinnati, where the Gov. bldg. now stands. When the war broke out he was appointed government photographer under Gen. Rosencranz; he also had several tents in the field during the war. Near the close of the war he opened a ground-floor gallery on 4th st. Cincinnati, and later sold out to Mr. John Wilder.
