Cole, and brother-in-law, Daniel R. Bearss, are at the IHS.  Ellen Cole Fetter was the great aunt of Cole Porter.  Tom Krasean says that there are some Cole papers in the State Library.

OriginalSource: Craig's Daguerrean Registry, www.daguerreotype.com, 5/17/01: Opened daguerreian gallery in Peru in Dec. 1853 over Darrow's Drug Store. May until August 1854 he opened a temporary gallery in Rochester, Ind. He returned to Peru and opened rooms over Mendenhall's store (3rd floor, on Broadway), indicating his gallery would be a permanent fixture in town. He reported he took 650 daguerreotypes during the previous winter in town. By May 1856 he advertised ambrotypes and melainotypes. 

Peru Evening Journal, 27 Aug. 1914 (obit.) Fetter moved to Peru in 1853.  In 1867 he moved to Logansport, returned to Peru in 1877, but never reengaged in active business.  Had been totally blind for 5 or 6 yrs.

For 4 yrs. with a short interruption Fetter pursued the art of picturemaking in WV, OH, and IN before locating in Peru in 1853.  For a number of yrs. he operated two galleries.  In 1867 he removed to Logansport, and conducted a gallery there about 10 yrs, when he returned to Peru, where he has since resided.
